What I did: signed up, deposited 50 USDT, accepted the welcome bonus, played roulette and blackjack, abandoned the bonus, deposited again, had two withdrawals cancelled, cleared the play-through, withdrew successfully, read the bonus terms in full, and put fourteen questions to four support agents.
BitStarz has run since 2014 and the footer carries twelve awards: Casinomeister Accredited, Best Crypto Casino 2024 and 2025, AskGamblers Best Casino 2022. It is one of the most decorated brands in crypto gambling, and the decorations are not fake.
It also paid me without argument, in six minutes, with no fee and no document request. On the only test that finally matters, BitStarz passes.
Between those two facts sits everything else: a welcome bonus that takes your own deposit hostage, a wagering rule with no counter anywhere, two cancelled withdrawals, and a withdrawal floor five times the deposit floor. None of it is fraud. All of it is design.
Where I stand right now
Won me over
- It paid. 56.1 USDT on chain, six minutes from request, no fee.
- A first cashout to a new address must be confirmed by email.
- No ID documents at any point, deposit or withdrawal.
- Every game has a Play For Fun mode you can use unfunded.
- The Fairness tab publishes the full calculation. I reproduced it exactly.
- Support replies inside a minute and escalates to named specialists.
- License verified on the Curaçao register, not just claimed in the footer.
- Transaction history publishes every hash with a link to the chain.
Bugged me
- The welcome bonus locked my own deposit. $0 withdrawable of $100.
- Table games count 5% toward wagering. Slots count 100%.
- There is no progress bar for deposit play-through. None, anywhere.
- Two withdrawals cancelled by email, after the fact.
- Support gave four different figures for one number in one chat.
- Canceling the bonus dropped me below the $50 withdrawal minimum.
- Minimum deposit $10, minimum withdrawal $50. A $10 player cannot cash out.
- The table shows a $5,000 max bet; the bonus terms cap it at $5.
- Support kept offering a bonus I was no longer eligible for.
The verdict so far
Start with the good, because most reviews never test it. I requested 56.1 USDT and it was processed at 08:25 UTC: no fee, no hold, no passport. Because the address was new, BitStarz emailed to confirm it first, a step Roobet skipped. A casino meaning to keep your money builds none of that.
BitStarz applies one rule to every deposit, bonus or not: wager it once before withdrawing. That is clause 8.7.5, justified as anti money laundering practice. The rule is defensible. What is not is that no progress bar exists for it, the figure appears nowhere in the account, and I learned it existed only when a withdrawal was cancelled by email. Asked where a player should look, a specialist replied: "Unfortunately there is no wager progress bar for deposits."
The bonus is a different order of problem. A 100% match on $50 presents as free money. What it does is lock your own deposit alongside the bonus, set $2,000 of wagering, count table games at five percent while slots count a hundred, cap every bet at $5, spend your real money first, and close the Jackpots category. On the games I played, clearing it means $40,000 of turnover against a $100 balance.
Clause 3.6 offers a way out: cancel and withdraw your deposit, forfeiting the bonus and anything it won. I took it. It cost $1.24 and left me at $48.76 against a $50 minimum withdrawal. The documented escape left me a dollar short of my own money, with two ways forward: deposit more, or gamble it up.
So: a well-built, long-established casino that pays quickly, wrapped in a promotional structure that makes your own money temporarily unreachable, with the number governing all of it kept off the screen. On my five checks, the cash-out passes, support gets a Caution, and the license, bonus and fairness checks are still open.
Who runs BitStarz
The footer states it plainly, which is more than many manage:
"www.bitstarz.com is operated by Gareton B.V. registered under No. 160656 at Landhuis Zuikertuin at Zuikertuintjeweg z/n, Willemstad, Curaçao. This website is licensed and authorized by the Curaçao Gaming Authority (license no. OGL/2024/165/0185)."
BitStarz's footer
I checked that number against the regulator rather than trusting the badge. Row 587 of the Curaçao Gaming Authority register reads OGL/2024/165/0185 · Gareton B.V. · B2C · 160656 · issued 24-Dec-25 · expires N/A · Indefinite. Licence number and registration number both match the footer exactly. Other operators on the same page show "Assessment in progress" or a hard expiry, so Indefinite is a status the register genuinely distinguishes. Roobet sits thirty rows earlier on the same list, which is what makes the two comparable.
Who is behind Gareton B.V. I haven't looked into yet, so the license check stays open on my License Tracker until I do.

Testing timeline
Every session on November 3, 2026, grouped by stage rather than strictly by the clock: getting money in, the bonus, getting money out. Each entry carries its own time, in UTC, so the order can be rebuilt from the money table below.
Part one · Getting money in
Signing up to a $500 promise
06:05 UTC. The panel leads with GET $500 OR 5BTC + 180 FREE SPINS. Email, password, currency, done, under a minute. No phone check, no email loop, no documents. A pre-ticked box opts you into weekly bonus mail.
Fifty dollars, and the toggles that were already on
06:19 UTC. The cashier is the best-built part of the site. USDT offers four networks with confirmation counts stated up front: Tron 19, Ethereum 10. Lightning is offered for Bitcoin at zero fee. Trust Wallet connects through Mesh. Minimum deposit, on screen: 10 USDT.
Underneath sat three promotions, all on by default: First Deposit Bonus at 100% up to 1 BTC plus 180 free spins, Bonuz Mania, and Piggyz Cash. I left them as I found them and sent 50 USDT on Ethereum.
It credited in full and in seconds. The toast read "You have successfully deposited 50 USDT ($50)" and the balance chip read $100. On chain the 50 USDT was worth $49.93 when it arrived, and BitStarz credited $50.00.

Part two · The bonus
One hundred dollars, none of it mine
07:05 UTC. Before playing I opened the cashier to check the route out. It read: Bonus Wagering $0 / $2,000. $0 withdrawable. $100 locked by bonus.
Forty times the bonus is industry standard and ruinous in practice. The line that matters is the second: my own $50 was locked alongside theirs. The panel also said the bonus expires in 29 days, where clause 3.7 says seven.
The games, and the ones I could not open
07:20 UTC. The library is enormous and mostly slots, with a live casino, game shows and a bench of in-house table games. Every game offers Play For Fun beside Play For Real, so you can learn an interface without funding it.
I played three. BitStarz's own Roulette took all hundred recorded bets, its Blackjack the rest, and NetEnt's European Roulette I opened and left. American Blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold'em and Deuces Wild sat alongside for a later session.
The in-house Roulette is the better built of the two wheels, and its sidebar carries Settings, Rules, Hotkeys, Live Stats, History and Fairness. That last tab is the same provably fair mechanism Roobet uses, so BitStarz's own games are checkable rather than merely certified. NetEnt's table is prettier and has no fairness tooling of its own.
BitStarz Blackjack was conventional and clearly labeled: 3 to 2 on a natural, insurance at 2 to 1, Perfect Pairs and 21+3 side bets from two cents. I left the side bets alone.
The Jackpots section was different. Every tile was grayed and badged "Unavailable with active bonus": a whole category closed by the promotion I had accepted forty minutes earlier, with no warning when I accepted it.
A hundred spins, and a counter that barely moves
08:06 UTC. I played a hundred rounds of BitStarz Roulette between 08:06 and 08:18 UTC, twelve minutes of flat even-money betting. The bet history exports every round, so this is not an impression, it is a record.
| Measure | This session | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Rounds played | 100 | |
| Time elapsed | 12 minutes | roughly 8 rounds a minute |
| Bet size | 92 rounds at $0.20, 8 at $0.40 | average $0.216 |
| Total staked | $21.60 | |
| Total returned | $24.00 | |
| Net result | +$2.40 | |
| Rounds won | 55 of 100 | 48.6 on a single-zero wheel |
| Return to player | 111.1% | 97.3% over the long run |
| Credited toward wagering | $1.08 at 5% weighting | $21.60 if these were slots |
The number that matters is the last row. A hundred rounds, twelve minutes of play and $21.60 of my own money across the table bought $1.08 of progress against a $2,000 requirement.
The bonus panel told the same story earlier and more starkly. Forty-nine minutes after the bonus landed, after a first handful of bets, it read Wager left 1,999.75859123 USDT. Twenty-four cents off a two-thousand-dollar requirement.
Clause 3.5 explains it, and support eventually confirmed it twice:
"Table games, live games, instant-win games, lotteries, and bingo typically contribute 5% towards wagering requirements."
BitStarz bonus terms, clause 3.5
Slots contribute 100%. Put it the other way: $2,000 means $40,000 of roulette turnover, an expected loss near $1,080 at a 2.70% edge, against a $100 balance, with every bet capped at $5. At twenty cents a round, two hundred thousand spins. Not a grind, a treadmill.
Nothing in the deposit panel, the bonus panel, the cashier or the game itself mentions weighting. I asked support twice and the clear answer arrived from the third agent.
A table that invites a bet the terms forbid
08:20 UTC. The roulette tables print their limits in the corner. NetEnt's reads MIN $0.10, MAX $5,000.00. Clause 3.10 of the bonus terms reads:
"Until the playthrough requirements have been met, the maximum allowable bet with a bonus active is 5 EUR/USD/CAD/AUD/NZD/USDT, 50 kr, ¥500, 0.01 BCH, 0.05 LTC, 0.0015 ETH, 25 DOGE or 0.00006 BTC."
BitStarz bonus terms, clause 3.10
A factor of a thousand apart, and only the larger is on the screen you bet from. A player grinding a requirement would reasonably reach for a bigger bet, and clause 3.15 lets BitStarz treat that as Promotion Abuse and withhold the proceeds at its sole discretion.
Canceling, and the trap underneath
07:40 UTC. Clause 3.6 offers the exit: a player may withdraw deposited funds before fulfilling the wagering, provided the bonus is cancelled first and forfeited along with anything it won. The same clause carries a detail easy to miss:
"When playing with an active bonus, deposited funds (real money) are used before the bonus funds."
BitStarz bonus terms, clause 3.6
Your own money goes first. By the time the bonus balance is touched at all, yours is gone.
The cancellation dialog was at least honest about the price. "$50 bonus money will be lost and you will not be able to use it again. Your balance will be $48.76 after canceling."
I took it. And the cashier then told me the amount field must be $50 or more.
My own money, released from the bonus and still unreachable, because canceling cost $1.24 and the floor is $50. Clause 3.22 spells out the choice. What it does not say is that canceling can leave you below the threshold at which the site will pay you at all.
A further cost I found only by asking: canceling any part of the Welcome Package cancels the package as a whole, so the Second and Third Deposit Bonuses were void. The Quick Deposit panel carried on offering me the Second Deposit Bonus with a live toggle.
Two agents also confirmed that requirements stack. Alice put it in real money: deposit $50, bet $25, deposit another $50, and you owe $75 of betting before either counts as played through.
Checking the fairness claim myself
13:42 UTC. The in-house games carry a Fairness tab, and it is the best implementation I have seen. It shows the client seed, which you can change, the hashed server seed, which you can copy, and a count of bets made with the current pair, which stood at 224. Beside it sits a Verify tab holding the game, the seeds, the nonce and a result board, and beneath that a link marked View Calculation.
That link is the thing. It opens the entire derivation step by step: the HMAC construction, the raw bytes it produces, the arithmetic that turns those bytes into a number, and the final result. Roobet's support told me its formula "can vary depending on the game" and declined to give one. BitStarz prints it on screen.
So I rebuilt it from scratch. Taking the client seed and nonce 3, I computed an HMAC-SHA256, read the first seven bytes, converted them to a 53-bit fraction and multiplied by 37 for a single-zero wheel:
| Step | Result |
|---|---|
| Construction | HMAC_SHA256(server seed, "client seed:nonce:0") |
| First seven bytes | 215, 156, 168, 193, 199, 82, 44 |
| BitStarz display | 215, 156, 168, 193, 199, 82, 44 |
| Fraction computed | 0.8422341797916678 |
| BitStarz display | 0.8422341797916678 |
| Multiplied by 37 | 31.1626646522917 |
| Final result | 31, matching their panel exactly |
Byte for byte, and to sixteen decimal places. BitStarz's calculator does what it claims, and the construction is the well-studied industry standard rather than something proprietary.
One limit, and it is why this check stays open. The Verify tab ran with an empty server seed, so what I proved is that the calculator implements the published algorithm correctly. Confirming that the seed BitStarz later reveals matches the hash it committed to beforehand needs a seed rotation, and rotation was blocked by an unfinished blackjack hand. Roobet and BitStarz have each verified a different half of the same promise: Roobet revealed a seed that hashed to its commitment but would not publish its formula; BitStarz published a formula that reproduces exactly but has not yet revealed a seed. By my rules, it closes when both halves match.
Part three · Getting money out
Ten dollars to get in, fifty to get out
07:45 UTC. I asked support whether the floors were really that far apart.
"Yes, that’s correct. The minimum deposit is 10 USDT, while the minimum withdrawal is 50 USDT... The deposit and withdrawal limits are set separately, so they don’t necessarily match... I appreciate that this may not be ideal."
BitStarz support
Work through what that means for the player a $10 floor invites. Deposit ten dollars, play it through as clause 8.7.5 requires, then try to stop. You cannot. The only routes to $50 are to win five times your money or deposit the difference.
The odds of the first are calculable and poor. Flat-betting a dollar a spin, the chance of running $10 to $50 before going broke is about one in twenty. Betting all ten at once, roughly one in six. Most players who deposit the stated minimum never reach the amount required to withdraw. Their money is not confiscated. It has nowhere to go.
I hit the same wall from above. Canceling left me at $48.76, so I deposited another 15 USDT. Not to gamble with. To buy the right to withdraw what I already had.
Two cancelled withdrawals
07:49 UTC. With the 15 USDT credited I requested 56 USDT. Cancelled. I requested 55. Cancelled again. Both arrived as emails after the fact, quoting clause 8.7.5. BitStarz does not disable the button; it accepts the request, returns the funds, and tells you later.
When support produced that figure, it moved: about 20 USDT, then 55, then 10, then 7, with two apologies. Four numbers for one quantity in one conversation.
"Please keep track of the last 7 USDT you need to bet."
Brian, BitStarz support
I asked whether he could stay on the line until it cleared. "We do have other players we need to assist."
Getting paid
08:19 UTC. I wagered the remainder on roulette and requested 56.1 USDT. Because the destination address had never been used on the account, BitStarz would not send it blind:
"Due to security reasons the address never used before needs to be confirmed by email. Confirmation link was sent to your email, please check mailbox."
BitStarz's cashier
The email named the address in full and asked me to confirm it. That is a genuine protection against an attacker who has your password redirecting your balance, and no other casino I have tested does it. The address is the same one my deposits came from.
Confirmed at 08:19 UTC, processed at 08:25:11. Six minutes against a support estimate of five to fifteen. No fee: the $0.21 of gas came from BitStarz's own wallet. The two cancelled attempts carry no hash, because nothing moved. Paid in full well inside 24 hours, so by my rules the cash-out is a Pass.
The confirmation email closed with four award badges and an invitation to contact the team with any concerns.

What the terms let BitStarz do
The bonus terms are clearly written and freely available, to BitStarz's credit. They also reserve wide discretionary powers worth reading before depositing. Clause 3.19 is the broadest: shared IP addresses are routine on a home network or behind one carrier.
| Clause | What it says |
|---|---|
| 3.14 | Every withdrawal is subject to internal audit; BitStarz may void bonuses or winnings from failed audits. Players consent in advance. |
| 3.15 | Anything BitStarz "in its sole and complete discretion" deems abusive lets it revoke the promotion and withhold the proceeds. |
| 3.16 | Multiple accounts are not permitted and may result in confiscated funds. |
| 3.18 | Minimal risk betting, such as covering red and black, does not count toward wagering. |
| 3.19 | Players sharing betting patterns and connected by location, banking pattern or IP may have bonus winnings and deposits confiscated. |
| 3.20 | A win deemed "worthy of publicity" obliges the player to appear at promotional events and permits use of their name. |
| 3.23 | "In the event of any dispute, the decision of BitStarz will be final." |
| 3.25 | If the balance drops below $0.10 the bonus is forfeited outright. |
| 8.7.5 | Every deposit must be played through once before withdrawal. |
The five checks
Every review on this site grades the same five checks, against the rules I publish.
- License and who's behind itOGL/2024/165/0185, Gareton B.V., reg. 160656, B2C, status Indefinite, on row 587 of the Curaçao register and matching the footer exactly. Who is behind Gareton B.V. I haven’t looked into yet.…Still open
- The bonus, wagered in fullI took the 100% match, then cancelled it under clause 3.6 rather than wager $2,000 at 5% weighting. The bonus was never played through, so this check has no result yet. What I found on the way is in part two.…Still open
- The cash-out, timed56.1 USDT paid in six minutes, no fee, hash published, new address confirmed by email first. Two earlier attempts cancelled under clause 8.7.5.✓Pass
- Provably fair, verifiedHashed seed shown before the bet, and a View Calculation panel publishing the full derivation, which I reproduced from scratch byte for byte. Not yet confirmed that a revealed seed hashes to its commitment.…Still open
- SupportInside a minute from four named agents who answered everything, but four figures for one number and a contradiction on whether wagering is visible.!Caution
Support reads Caution, so BitStarz is not a pick, and three checks are still open. Provably fair closes on the next seed rotation, which is a five-minute job once the open blackjack hand is finished.
The money, start to finish
| Time (UTC) | What | Amount | Verified on chain |
|---|---|---|---|
| 06:18:47 | Deposit sent | 50 USDT | Block 26,332,431, fee $0.15 paid by me |
| 06:19 | Credited by BitStarz | $50.00 | Credited in full |
| 06:19 | First Deposit Bonus accepted | +$50 | $2,000 wagering at 40x |
| 07:05 | Withdrawable at that moment | $0 | $100 locked by bonus |
| 07:40 | Bonus cancelled | −$50 | Balance $48.76 |
| 07:43:59 | Deposit sent | 15 USDT | Block 26,332,856, fee $0.15 paid by me |
| 07:49 | Cashout requested | 56 USDT | Cancelled, nothing moved |
| 07:54 | Cashout requested | 55 USDT | Cancelled, nothing moved |
| 08:19 | Address confirmed by email | Before anything was sent | |
| 08:25:11 | Cashout processed | 56.1 USDT | Block 26,333,061, fee $0.21 paid by BitStarz |
| After | Left on site | 0.245 USDT | Below every withdrawal floor |
In 65 USDT, out 56.1, with 0.245 stranded below every threshold BitStarz will pay. That is $8.66 lost on site, $1.24 of it to canceling the bonus. Add $0.30 of my own gas and the exercise cost about $8.96, almost all of it clearing a wagering requirement rather than fees. Two chain details favour BitStarz: the 50 USDT was worth $49.93 on arrival and it credited $50.00, and the withdrawal gas came from its own wallet.
The destination address on the withdrawal is the same one the deposits were sent from, which is the address BitStarz emailed me to confirm before releasing anything. The deposits and the withdrawal are on the blockchain. The game results come from BitStarz's bet history and my own notes.
Support answers
Four agents over two hours: an unnamed first-line agent, then Brian, Dave and Alice. Every reply inside a minute, and between them they answered everything. They also contradicted each other and themselves.
- How much play-through is left?Four figures in one chat: 20, 55, 10, 7, with two apologies.!Four answers
- Where can I see it?"No wager progress bar for deposits." Later: "not available on your account. You would need to contact support."!Nowhere
- Is wagering ever hidden?"It is never hidden." True of bonuses, false of deposits.!Contradicted
- Do all games count equally?"Table games contribute 5% and Slots contribute 100%." Matches clause 3.5. Took three agents.✓Matches the terms
- Does the requirement stack?Yes, with worked examples. Each deposit adds its own 1x on top of what remains.✓Clear
- Minimum withdrawal, fees, timing? No fee on crypto beyond network fees. Processing 5 to 15 minutes.✓Matches my cash-out
- Why is the deposit floor $10 and the withdrawal floor $50?"Set separately, so they don’t necessarily match... this may not be ideal."!No reason given
- What triggers an ID request?"Sometimes we might ask for verification at our discretion."!No threshold given
- Which license covers my account?First: "I’m not sure what you mean." Rephrased, the footer text came back verbatim.!Second try
- Can I still take the Second Deposit Bonus? No. Canceling part of the package cancels it all. The deposit panel kept offering it anyway.!Panel disagrees
- Is there a provably fair formula?Hashed seed shown before the bet, tool afterwards, but "the exact formula can vary."…Hedged
- If my account closed, what happens to the balance?"Stays closed without any balance given... nothing to credit back."!Nothing back
The weighting answer is the one a player needs and it took three agents. The visibility answers should worry them: the figure that cancelled two withdrawals is, by BitStarz's own account, displayed nowhere. By my rules, answers that vague or wrong about money are a Caution.
What follows is the chain as it happened, question by question.

Next update
This covers two deposits, a cancelled bonus, two cancelled withdrawals and one that paid. My verdict stays the same: BitStarz pays fast and in full, but its bonus locks your own money and the play-through on every deposit is shown nowhere.
Coming next: a seed rotation, to confirm the revealed server seed hashes to the commitment. Look into who is behind Gareton B.V. A larger withdrawal, to see whether four figures triggers the document request $56 did not. The responsible gambling tools. And the slots at 100% weighting, to see what clearing a bonus costs on the games it is built for.
A word of care
Gambling is for adults, 18+ and of legal age where you live. I lost $8.96 and expected to. Across enough bets the casino keeps a percentage, and no system changes it. A 100% match at 40x is not free money, it is a longer stay at the table.
The part worth sitting with is not the loss. It is that at two separate moments I held money I could not withdraw, and both times the only route out was to deposit more. That structure is legal, disclosed and common. It is also what turns a small loss into a larger one.
BitStarz carries 18+, GamCare and GambleAware marks in its footer and an "Excellent Support" award beside them. If this stops being entertainment, free, confidential help is here, and so are BeGambleAware and GamCare.
